Edible Type

For the typo-food project I have chosen to take inspiration from  pom bears, as seen below, and make crisps that are in the shape of letters. I have chosen to do this as I haven't seen or heard of anyone that has done it before.
I created the crisps by peeling a potato very finely and then using a knife to cut the peels into letters. I chose to use the font Haettenschweiler as reference as thick line weight would give the crisps a good surface area and would not crinkle too much.

For my first attempt I tried baking the crisps. This is a healthier option to frying them but is more difficult to do as the crisps can easily burn.
As you can see below, the baked crisps look burnt, but they tasted fine. I wanted to have a more traditional crisp as my final piece so decided to fry on my second attempt.
My second attempt was a lot more successful and the crisps came out a better. I chose to use the letters that make up the word "crisps" as it seemed appropriate
I am happy with the final outcome, although if I had more time I would like to have experimented with producing packaging for my typo-crisps to give them more of a professional look.
