Studio Brief 9: Ginesis: Development

We began by establishing an aesthetic which would suite our high-end gin bar. We wanted to produce simple icons which could be used to show what the gin should used for. Either to be drank straight, with tonic, or as a martini.

The first outcomes looked too childish.

These icons were expanded to see if we could display botanicals in this style. but later agreed it did not fit the aesthetic of the gin festival.
Instead we brainstormed even more minimal icons and settled on symbol shapes seen below which represent the three diferent serves.
This would then be displayed at the front of our menu to explain what they mean.
We explored further aesthetics which could be added to our menu.

We eventually decide to keep a simple pattern that used juniper berries and leaves to give a quite sophisticated style which also fit with the slight undertones of genesis.
Although this pattern was visually appealing inverted, it was a bit to bright to fit the high-end aesthetic.
