OUGD403 Studio Brief 2: Illustrator : Final Designs

For the illustrator brief we had to develop develop on of our 10 letterforms from brief 1 into a typeface in illustrator to print. I was very undecided about which letterform to take forward as I was unsure of how each would work if as vector paths. I decided to take the 3 letterforms that expressed my word (method) as best as possible. Below are the results.

I have received feedback from most of the class that says that this is the strongest typeface out of the 3. Unfortunately the typeface can only be black, so I would have to get rid of the red. Another issue with this concept is that it isn't as interesting on some letterforms as others. For example: the actual concept behind this typeface isn't so obvious on the i and l.
Feedback shows that the typeface below doesn't express the word "method" particularly well.

This typeface is quite interesting but there are too many inconsistencies throughout with arrows. Some letterforms, like L and Y, look unbalanced.

I plan to get feedback from people on the course as to which one they think expresses the word "method" the most. I will print the one with the most votes this Thursday in our induction.
