Studio Brief 1: Design Development

To make my leaflet reflect my own process I have chosen to use the same colour scheme as I used in my self-branding which I did for PPP last year (Teal and yellow/orange).
I experimented with the colours briefly to try and gives the impression of each layer being more and more complete to show the 'process' of design and how you build it up in layers. I found that it was too distracting to the eye and didn't carry the same aesthetic that fits in with my clean, simple self-branding.
Once I decided on having filled colour on each layer, I tried alternating the colours to see which looked best and felt balanced.
I settled on a mostly cream with the teal and orange as secondary colours to catch the eye of the audience create intrigue for what the colour leads to inside the leaflet.
I mapped out the cover design on to 20x35cm paper dimension and highlighted which areas were visible when folded and where the folds were. I considered adding something to this side of the design, but during a crit most people thought it was not needed and fit in with the simple, clean look.
I have not yet added my content to the inside of the leaflet but will work in around the folds as seen below.
