Studio Brief 1: Letterform Development

During the process of testing letterform ideas I found that I quite liked the look of the Tracing paper letter that I had gone over roughly multiple times. I believe that it is a good representation of the word method as it looks quite rough around the edges, but quite tidy, like a final letterform inside. I may experiment with this style more and use it as one of my 10 final letterforms

Below are a few diferent concepts that I was developing in my notebook. The first line of Cs is testing how small I can make the bowl of the C with the letter still legable. The concept behind this design is that it evokes a visual diagram of the design process. At the ends, the letters will have a thinner stroke because at the beginning of the design process you start out with no ideas and then gather more and develop them until you decide on a design to develop into your final piece, which will be the end of the letterform.

The bottom row of Cs are diferent variations of this concept. The last C on the page is thinking of the word "method" "as instructions". Each line represents the easiest steps you can take (easiest method) when trying to achieve something.
