When printing out designs for Brooklyns menu it was found that the dimensions did not suite the medium particularly well. They felt unnecessarily large in the hand and especially too wide when opening them. To tackle this, the menus have been scaled down for a better user experience.
The A5 format for the food menu felt child-like due to its wideness so has been made narrower to give a more luxurious look and feel to the design.
The changes made allow the menus to fit together nicely and not take too much room on a table. It was suggested in feedback to make the Food Menu taller so as to fit the rest of the flourish that underlines the title in for a nicer aesthetic. Due to the stock I chose the grainy texture for the cover has not printed well. This can be fixed later by choosing a more appropriate stock.
By scaling down the type, the child-like feel to the menu has been lost, which is good for the target audience (19-40 year olds). Feedback showed that the dimensions felt much better in the hand and the type size and use of type hierarchy allowed the audience to receive information in the correct order. Some feedback suggested that there was too much white space, whilst some thought it made the content clearer and easier to navigate.Aside from each side not aligning correctly the food menu printed well and received positive feedback on the dimensions. It was suggested that to give both menus a sturdier feel to bind covers for them and screen-print the back and front designs on top.
