Studio Brief 1: Bass Guitar Idea Development

One of the catchiest parts of the 'Grounds For Divorce' song is the use of the bass guitar. I wanted to see how I could experiment with the imagery of a bass guitar to show its importance within the song. Below are a few of my outcomes.

To produce the images below I created lines cross a art board in illustrator and simply added anchor points at the outline of a bass guitar photo that I found, then deleted the excess lines. I have used the arrow styled stroke to add a bit more depth to the image.
When changing the direction of the stroke style, it looks as though there are connotations of the bass guitar getting louder rather than quitter as it fades in from the left.
The images are quite simplistic, but I think they make good use of white space to give the guitar a sense of importance.

I the began looking at other ways that I could use the outline of a guitar. The image below has the opposite effect to what my intentions were, making it look as though the bass guitar is missing.
The design below was inspired by two things. The first being a technique which i have previously experimented with that involves you making a drawing of your hand look 3d as seen below.
And the second thing that inspired me was this t-shirt design which makes a twist on the famous Joy Division album cover to outline the symbol for female.
I received a lot of feedback for the design saying that it was really interesting, but hurt a lot of peoples eyes.
To make the design hurt the viewers eyes less, I cropped it into a circle in hopes that the white space would draw more attention to the guitar rather than the surrounding lines, which feedback showed that it did.
