For my colour scheme I want to make people who glance at my designs aware that it is about tattoos. I have decided to look at the colour schemes of traditional tattoos as they are the stereotypical colours associated with tattoos. A famous tattoo artist who is commonly associated with traditional tattoos is Sailor Jerry. Below are a few pictures of his work, from which I have taken colours for my colour scheme.
I noticed chose the main colours red, cream and black from these design. I realised that It was not only these colours that made these designs have this traditional look, but the texture and gradients on the paper. The actual tattoo designs look like they have aged and faded slightly. Below are the textured colours I created inside photoshop using 'noise'.
I then applied this to a poster design to see if the traditional tattoo style would translate well:
